So with the Popcorn painting complete, named, and posted to my storefront, it's time to start something new, and I liked the food genre, so am going to complement my savoury popcorn with a sweet: hard candy. As with the popcorn, I took this photo while bored in my hotel room on a business trip.
At this point, I'm prepped the canvas, and plan to sketch the candy onto it this weekend. I already worked out the composition during the photo session. (I always wonder what people must think, outside the room, seeing the flash go off several times until I get precisely the shot I want, LOL). The next step after I sketch it is to underpaint the background, so I played with color choices and found a dark cool blue works best, making the candies, in warm colors pop off the canvas. I've narrowed it down to something like these:
